Savvy Gameplay

Splinterlands is a fast-paced game filled with lots of action. Although each battle only lasts a few minutes, you will find yourself engaged for hours.

Like all great games, Splinterlands is easy to learn but hard to master. The battlefield is ready and the competition is fierce.

Splinterlands gameplay revolves around the following three steps:

1 - REVIEW COMBAT RULES

  • Each battle is unique. The following three variables keep each Splinter Sage on their toes:
  • Rules: Players have to abide by one or more ruleset for each battle. In the example below, a player must abide by Reverse Speed and Divine Shield.
  • Mana Cap: Each Splinterlands card is assigned a mana value. Players select a summoner and add up to six monster cards to a battle (or until the mana cap is reached). In the example below, the mana cap is 17.
  • Elements: Not all Elements (also known as Splinters) are allowed for each battle. A player must choose from the available Splinters. In the example below, a player can choose Fire, Water, or Dragon. Earth, Life, and Death are not available for this particular battle.

2 - MAKE YOUR TEAM

  • Select A Summoner
  • Picking the best summoner based on the rulesets and the objective of your daily quest is one of the most important decisions you will make each battle.
  • Most summoners buff (add abilities to) your monsters or debuff (remove abilities from) your opponent's monsters. Some summoners do a combination of both. A few select summoners neither buff nor debuff, but add value as their mana cost is lower.
  • Generally speaking, you can only play monsters that are in the same splinter as the summoner you choose. There are two exceptions to this rule. A dragon summoner can summon any available splinter. Any summoner can summon the neutral splinter (when it is available for battle).
  • The league you currently play in determines the level at which your summoners can be played. For example, you may own a Level 8 Rare Summoner (max level) but only be able to play it as a Level 6 Rare Summoner since you are battling in the Gold League.
  • The actual level at which a summoner is played limits the highest level that a monster card can be played. For example, when using a Level 6 Summoner, you cannot play your common cards higher than Level 8 (even though the max level of the common card is 10).

  • Select Monsters
  • Different monster have different abilities.
  • A monster's stats and/or abilities improve as a monster card is leveled up, but a monster card's actual level in a battle is limited by the level of the summoner that is being used.
  • A maximum of 6 monsters can be chosen for each battle. The total number of monsters selected may be less depending on the mana cap assigned to a battle.

3 - BATTLE

  • A limited amount of time is available to choose your cards for each battle. Click the green "BATTLE" button before time expires.
  • When you are battling in lower leagues, you are allowed more time to select your team. As you advance to higher leagues, expect less time to select your team.
  • All team selections must be made before the countdown expires. Once both players have selected their teams, the battle can began.
  • If you do not select your time before the countdown expires, you will forfeit the battle.
  • Become a student. Carefully watch what works (and does not work) so that you can improve your win rate on the battlefield.
